QED Conference, Rovinj

Quality in Enterprise Development (QED) is a conference organized by CROZ to bring together people involved in software development, especially on a higher level. It's a small conference, and a sort-of continuation of the last-year's Project&Portfolio Management (obviously directed at a different level), but its exceedengly good organization and careful selection of speakers make it one of my favorite small conferences. It was held in the beautiful town of Rovinj which had enough sun to make it a very pleasent experience.

The conference itself was great. One of the star speakers was Juergen Hoeller of Java Spring Framework fame, who talked about large-scale enterprise open-source software (though understandably his company is getting more and more "enterprise" and less open-source oriented). Another notable guest was Ralph Nelson, a senior product manager for IBM Rational Team Concert. The majority of speakers were local and the conference was mostly in Croatian conference.

The conference had a great lineup of speakers with very informative topics, without too much marketspeak as is common in this kinds of events, and also one of the best social events. Looking forward to its successor in the next year!

Surprisingly, some of the band members were employees of either CROZ or IBM, playing
informally at their spare time. It turns out they were greate and provided excellent
music background to the social event.
