VirtualBox on FreeBSD

VirtualBox has recently made significant progress on FreeBSD! Apparently, they are pretty close to having a full working version on FreeBSD as a host.

Here are some mailing list references:

I think this development is on par or even more important then ZFS, as FreeBSD currently has no full virtualization options (as a host) other than QEmu.

No, but it probably won't make it into 8.0

cd /usr/ports/emulators/ &&

svn co http://svn.bluelife.at/projects/packages/blueports/emulators/virtualbox &&

cd virtualbox/

Pre version of the port

I'm currently at the FreeBSD Developers' summit and it's been confirmed that more funding is needed to finish Xen support (both PV guest and Dom0).

The estimate is that it's a full-time job for several months.
